 | | | | | | 5th Grade Chess | | This year, the 5th grade will include chess in it's curriculum. By the
end of November, each homeroom will have had several classes of
instruction. Beginning players will learn how to set up the board and
move pieces. More advanced players will learn opening, mid-game and
end-game strategies.
Periodically during the school year, teachers will provide students
with time to play practice games for fun and to hone their chess skills.
In spring, interested students will have the chance to participate in a chess tournament.
