We are beginning the year with a study of data
and data displays. Ask your child about the sixth grade survey and
taste testing. We are working on ways to display this data. We are
also working on basic computational skills.
Reading/Writing
The
first writing unit of sixth grade is on memoir. We have read a couple
of pieces and will write on an event that stood out in our lives as a
learning/growing experience. We are working on adding to our already established base of
writing skills by studying what good authors do to communicate feelings and moods.
Spelling
We have begun our study of Latin and Greek roots. These help to expand our vocabulary and become tools that help us become better writers.
