  • Dear Families,

With the help of many staff members and parents, we have completed and submitted our National Blue Ribbon School application. Results will come in the fall. Our school summary began with a description of the beautiful mosaic at our front door, describing it as a perfect metaphor for our school: colorful, detailed, exciting and engaging. For me, working on the application was a great way to reflect on my nine years at SAP. I am so fortunate. For the new principal, the essays describing SAP give the perfect introduction to this fabulous school. Whether or not we are chosen for this award, it is clear that St. Anthony Park Elementary is an excellent place for children to grow and learn.

The mission of the SAP Site Council is to enhance education for all children here by strengthening our sense of community. A major undertaking this year has been to create avenues of communication to inform the community. The council has kept you informed and sought your input through newsletters, emails and surveys, and by hosting budget and building renovation informational evenings. This month, four members of the Site Council will join Assistant Superintendent Andrew Collins in the new principal selection process. Thank you for your leadership, Site Council!

Many exciting and engaging events are ahead: spring carnival, family picnic and plant sale, talent show, field days, and many fun grade-level and classroom happenings. To all of the adults who help make these events possible for students, thank you! Together we make a great team. SAPSA has planned a retirement celebration for me – thank you for that! You’ll find event dates as well as construction and budget information on the school website and in your classroom newsletters.

    My door is always open,

    Ann Johnson
