Mrs. Woods-Weisman
Welcome to 3rd Graders!
My name is Marcia Woods-Weisman (Ms. Weisman), and I’m so excited to have you in my class! I’m going to be your classroom teacher and we will be in room 2412 at the top of the library stairs. We have a great class, and I am sure we will have lots of fun working and learning together!
This will be my 13th year at St. Anthony Park Elementary. I have been a teacher for about 30 years with more than half of that being in St. Paul. I've also taught in Minneapolis, Madison, WI and the suburbs of Chicago. I have been a classroom teacher, a Reading Teacher, a Gifted and Talented teacher, an Enrichment Social Studies/Literacy/Science teacher, a Middle School/High School Summer School teacher and more! I have worked with a wide range of students at all ability levels and from many different backgrounds and cultures. This summer, I taught adults how to read better at the Hubb Center in St. Paul! That was pretty cool for a change of pace! All that being said, third grade is my favorite and the grade I've taught the longest.
There are 3 people and lots of animals in my family. My wife (Dylan) and I are both teachers and we have an almost 18-year-old son (Joseph) who will be a senior at Washburn High School in Minneapolis (where Dylan is an ESL teacher). We have a dog named Webster, 2 cats - CC (Cool Cat), and Oakey Bob, and too many fish to count! We love music, sports, reading, movies and having adventures, large and small! Joseph is a competitive bowler and is going to bowl in college, so we spend a lot of time traveling to bowling competitions as well!
This summer, in addition to teaching adults at the Hubb center, my family had a busy summer with lots of bowling tournaments all over the Midwest. We traveled to Indianapolis, Alexandria, Green Bay and other local tournaments as well! I got to go on a cool Yoga retreat all by myself up north to Grand Marias where I went hiking, kayaking and sauna-ing too! We also had a couple of short trips to Wisconsin to go to our family’s lake (Cranehaven -yes there are cranes there)! We also enjoyed some “in town” fun including lots of long dog walks by Minnehaha Creek, some swimming, going out to eat and hanging out with friends! Also, our garden is doing great, so don’t be surprised if you see me eating lots of cherry tomatoes!
I’m looking forward to meeting you and hearing about your summer adventures as well. I hope to see you and your family at Back to School Night - Thursday, August 31 between 5:00pm and 6:30pm. You can meet and visit with your teachers, classmates, and people in our school community. You may also bring your supplies* and put them away if you’d like! Look for more details coming soon from Dr. Duke, our principal.
I’m looking forward to another excellent school year working with you, your families and everyone here at SAP! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to find out more about 3rd Grade!
Peace and Love,
Ms. Weisman
